Trend Pitch MUSTS!
Editors and pubs always seem to be interested in these kinds of stories, and I’m a sucker for a good trend story, so please, send your ideas over!
BUT for me to pitch a trend story, they always need to have a few key things:
Numbers data or evidence that this is, in fact, a growing trend (the most important thing!)
Multiple examples of this trend around the world, or wherever the trend is happening (for example, the US or Europe)
A “why now” angle, why is this important now or what is the reason behind this new trend
These three things are vital for me to write a pitch for a trend story, so double-check your pitch includes all these things before hitting send!
